HOW YOU CAN MAKE A GIFT

You can continue to be a part of Bethany Lutheran’s mission into the future by making a gift to the Endowment Fund. Your gift may take any of the following forms:

  • Wills or bequests
  • Trusts
  • Life insurance benefits
  • Annuities
  • Securities
  • Real estate
  • Cash

A member of the Fund committee will be more than willing to explain in detail these and other ways you can participate.  Planned gifts, in many instances, may also benefit you financially while you live.

Legacy Lane

The Endowment Fund Board sponsors the project Legacy Lane as a tribute to yesterday, today and tomorrow. Pavers may be engraved with tributes of love, honor, and grace. Commemorate weddings, baptisms, confirmations and many other milestones with an engraved paver. You may also consider purchasing paver(s) as gifts to celebrate and pay tribute to special people and events.

Installed pavers may be viewed on Legacy Lane leading to and from the Bell Tower. Each paver is 4” X  8” and can be engraved with a personal message for $125 per paver. A duplicate gift paver may be purchased for an additional $35.

WHAT IS THE BETHANY ENDOWMENT FUND?

The Fund is a unique opportunity to share the many gifts which God has entrusted to us. It will serve as a way to receive bequests, planned gifts and other special gifts…and help those gifts grow to do more than they could individually.

The Endowment Fund is not a replacement for the Memorial Fund. Rather, it is a fund through which members and friends of Bethany may direct certain gifts such as estates, trusts, life insurance benefits, and others.

These gifts will accumulate and grow through investment. The income earned will then be used in ways to support the ministry of our congregation and the Christian Church. Thus, gifts to the Fund give again and again, year after year.

As members and friends of Bethany Lutheran and faithful stewards of God’s creation, it is important to consider this opportunity as a witness to our Christian faith, If we truly desire the Church to grow in its ministry— beyond the day-to-day maintenance of the present — such funds are vital in the years to come.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?

The purpose is to receive and hold bequests and special gifts from the estates of those persons who have named either our congregation or The Fund in a provision for the distribution of their estates through wills, trusts or charitable remainder agreements, including life insurance policies.

HOW CAN THIS FUND STRENGTHEN THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF OUR CONGREGATION?

An initial distribution of 10% of the principal of any and all estate gifts shall be made to benevolent causes as outlined in the five areas listed.  We encourage all to tithe.

WHAT AMOUNT IS DISTRIBUTED ANNUALLY, AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE?

The income earned from the investment of the principal assets in the fund shall be distributed annually to provide support for the ministry of our congregation and the ministries of the Nebraska Synod and ELCA related agencies and institutions.

There shall be five areas, each of which will receive a share of the income  annually:

  • Capital improvements
  • Scholarships or grants
  • Outreach into the community
  • Missions of the ELCA
  • Bethany missions and outreach
