Tanzania Vision Trip

Bethany’s Mission Trips to Tanzania, Africa are organized through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Nebraska Synod and the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania along with Bethany’s sister church in Tanzania, Uduru Parish.  On our mission trips, we spend time with our partner church, Uduru, and visit ministry sites of the Northern Diocese as well as take a safari to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. These trips flow from the relationship we share with our companion synod in Tanzania. The companion synod program enables the Nebraska Synod to experience the gifts and witness of the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania. The previous trip cost for Bethany members was $4,000, non-members paid $5,000. Future trips should cost around the same but price but may vary slightly depending on airfare.

Nebraska Synod Adult Mission Trip February 16-24, 2019

Each year the Nebraska Synod sends a team to do disaster relief work.  This year the trip will be to Houston on February 16-24, 2019.

When Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas Aug. 25, 2017, as a Category 4 hurricane, it became the country’s first major — Category 3 or higher — hurricane since Wilma hit Florida in October 2005 and the first major hurricane to strike southern Texas since Celia in 1970. It kicked off a historically destructive 2017 storm season for the Caribbean and the southern U.S.

Work will be done through Rebuilding Together Houston. We will stay at Joy Mission. Beds and bedding are provided. We will most likely be working on the outside of  a house. Participants will fill out a skills check list and then RTH will match us to a job site. Work days are 8am-4pm.

Cost for the trip will be $175.00. This will cover lodging and meals while in Houston. Additional cost: sharing the cost of gas for the trip. Our general rule is that the passengers divide the cost. The car provider does not need to provide gas. Eating while traveling to and from Texas and two-three evening meals while in Texas
